If you searched something on Google recently and saw a big box at the top giving an AI answer, that\u2019s called AI Overview<\/strong>. It tries to answer your question using artificial intelligence, but sometimes it feels unnecessary or even confusing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bad news is, Google doesn\u2019t give a full \u201coff\u201d button for this yet.
The good news is, there are a few easy tricks that make your searches clean again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Turn It Off in Search Labs<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    2. Use the \u201cWeb\u201d Tab<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    3. Add \u201c-ai\u201d to Your Search<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Just type \u201c-ai\u201d<\/strong> (without quotes) at the end of your search.

    4. Use \u201cudm=14\u201d in the URL<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    You can also use a secret URL code that loads the old \u201cweb-only\u201d view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    After searching something, go to the address bar and add this at the end of the URL:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Example: https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=how+to+bake+cookies&udm=14<\/mark><\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    You can even save this version as a custom search engine<\/strong> in your browser so it becomes your default.
    That way, every search you make opens without AI Overview automatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
