YouTube Monetization vs. Sponsorships: Which Is Better for Your Channel?

YouTube monetization and sponsorships can be great ways to earn money on your channel, but the best option for you may depend on many factors, including your audience, niche, and goals.

YouTube monetization refers to the revenue you earn from ads that are displayed on your videos. To be eligible for monetization, you need to have at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours in the past 12 months or 10 million Views on your YouTube Shorts videos. Once you meet those requirements, you can enable monetization on your channel and start earning revenue from ads. But, what you earn per 1000 views on YouTube depends on various factors such as visitors, niche, avg. time spent on your video, so on and so forth.

Sponsorships, on the other hand, involve working with brands or companies to promote their products or services. This can involve creating sponsored content, such as product reviews or sponsored videos, and getting paid for the promotion. Sponsorships can be a great way to earn more money than YouTube monetization alone, but they also require more effort and may involve some creative compromises. You can read this article to check the YouTube monetization status even for the channels who you do not have access to.

    When to Choose YouTube Sponsorships?

    1. If your audience is more likely to use ad-blockers or skip ads, then sponsorships may be a better option for you. Similarly, if your audience is more niche, then you may find that sponsorships are more lucrative since there may be fewer advertisers targeting your audience.
    2. Some niches are more conducive to sponsorships than others. For example, if you create videos about beauty, fashion, or lifestyle, you may find that sponsorships are a great way to earn money since those niches are highly monetizable. Many big companies pay a good amount to promote their products, especially on Instagram and YouTube.
    3. If your goal is to earn as much money as possible, then sponsorships may be the way to go since you can often earn more per sponsored video than you can from YouTube monetization. However, if your goal is to build a loyal audience and grow your channel, then focusing on YouTube monetization may be a better strategy since it can help you reach a wider audience.

When Not to Choose YouTube Sponsorships?

    1. If your ethics get in the way of promoting something which is not true. You get paid good amount but if you yourself does not believe in what you are marketing, then it’s time to say good bye.
    2. Say ‘no’ to YouTube Sponshorships if they are asking you to promote something which may be illegal in some countries. This will not only ban your YouTube channel but also hamper your personal image.
    3. If the Sponshorship deals involves you losing out on your creativity and have you say utterly biased points. There is no positive in posting low quality and less creative video to your loyal YouTube subscribers. They may unsubscribe your channel if you post only paid content which does not bring any value to them.

Ultimately, the best strategy is to try both approaches and see what works best for your channel. You may find that a combination of YouTube monetization and sponsorships is the most effective way to earn money and grow your channel.
